Picking and Packing
Our learners ended their week with some volunteering work at local charity ‘FareShare’, who strive to reduce waste and fight hunger by distributing surplus supermarket food to those in need.
The warehouse was filled from floor to ceiling with fresh fruit, vegetables, tinned foods, chocolate, meat and much more- no one could believe that all of this would have been sent to landfill! The learners split into teams and navigated their way through the various departments, ticking each item off their lists.
Before long, the group had successfully completed all of the orders and the food was packed, organised and labelled, ready to be loaded onto the vans that night. Despite being a little tired after lots of lifting, the group were very happy to have worked for such a great cause!
