Unlocking Careers with the ASK Programme
Donna from the ASK Programme delivered an insightful workshop on Apprenticeships. She guided learners through the application process, which begins with searching for apprenticeship opportunities. These can be found on company websites, Unifrog, Indeed, social media, through friends and family, or via the "Find an Apprenticeship" service. Donna also highlighted that apprenticeships can be advertised throughout the year.
She shared some valuable tips for finding an apprenticeship:
- Explore a wide range of sectors that interest you.
- Stay open to all apprenticeship levels.
- Use broad terms in your searches.
- Sector bodies and industry news can help identify employers offering apprenticeships.
- If you're unsure about the type of role you want, there are plenty of resources and guidance available to help refine your search.
- Remember, apprenticeships can be an excellent stepping stone in your career.
Donna also introduced the "Find an Apprenticeship" platform on GOV.UK, demonstrating its features (QR code included below). She explained the benefits of using this platform:
- It’s free, user-friendly, and secure.
- It simplifies and speeds up the application process.
- You can track and save your applications for future access.
- Each vacancy includes detailed information.
- You can set up alerts for new opportunities.
This workshop provided learners with practical tools and knowledge to navigate the apprenticeship application process confidently.
