Loving life skills
This year learners have been working hard on their independent living skills. Last half term one of learners has been working on independent travel training and on her first week back she has managed to access public transport with her travel trainer from the Independent travel training programme!
These skills can include things such as tying shoe laces, something many have been desperate to learn since joining us, cooking, cleaning, making a bed, building furniture, making phone calls for appointments and many other areas of general life to become more independent. Learners are also looking forward to starting work placements, cooking and budgeting and getting out into the community. All of these areas support learners EHCPs and enables them to meet the outcomes and targets they need to work towards.
