Maths & English Assessments
Over the past few weeks, learners have been completing Maths and English assessments to evaluate their progress since starting Trinity Solutions Academy.
Learners who did not achieve a grade 4 in GCSE are required to attend Maths and English sessions to work towards a qualification. Those without any prior qualifications are entered for an Entry Level qualification (Levels 1, 2, or 3). Learners with a GCSE grade 1 progress to Functional Skills Level 1, while those with a grade 2 are entered for Functional Skills Level 2. Learners with a grade 3 follow a two-year GCSE pathway, beginning with Functional Skills Level 2 in the first year (see table below).
Once learners complete their assigned qualification for the year, they may either conclude their Maths or English studies for that academic year or progress to the next qualification level. The primary goal is to achieve either a GCSE grade 4 or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification, though some employers may accept learners without these.
To track progress and identify knowledge gaps, learners complete mock assessments upon starting at Trinity and during the winter, spring, and summer terms. These assessments help determine if learners are "exam ready" and likely to succeed in a real exam, which they can take at any point during the academic year.
This year, we are aiming to have all Entry Level learners attempt their real exam before Christmas to identify early successes.
We wish all learners the best for their mock and real exams. If you have any questions, concerns, or wish to discuss your child's progress and current level, please contact us.
