Work Placement - Urban Green

On 18.10.2024, a group of learners from Trinity Solutions Academy visited Tyne River Side Park as part of their environmental education and community engagement. The visit aimed to provide hands-on experience in gardening, promote awareness on environments, and encourage teamwork amongst our learners.

Moreover, the day began with a brief introduction to the garden park by one of the Urban Green team staff members, who explained the importance of green spaces, the park’s history, and the different plants and flowers in the garden. The learners were divided into small groups to participate in the following activities. Under the guidance of the urban green team and the college staff, the learners were helped to plant a variety of flowers and shrubs.

However, each learner took turns digging holes, planting, and watering the new additions to the garden, ensuring the plants were correctly positioned. After planting, the learners participated in a clean-up session. They collected litter, pulled weeds, and cleared paths to ensure the garden was neat and tidy.

This task not only improved the park’s appearance but also added to the learner's sense of responsibility for maintaining public spaces.
