Animal Care & Horticulture
This programme aims to prepare you for the world of work in the land-based sector. You will gain practical knowledge and experience of the industry whilst studying with skilled staff in a specialist training environment. You can train up to level one standard, as well as improving skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, health and safety at work and the use of high-quality tools and equipment. Throughout the course, you will be working on a real working farm where you will have the opportunity to cover units on animal care, horticulture, animal grooming and Health and Safety.

The Learn to Work Programme will also include:
Personal Social Development, Employability Skills, Maths and English (Functional Skills up to GCSE), Digital Skills and British Values.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements. Individual needs will be assessed at the interview to ensure you are enrolled on the most suitable programme.
Work placements:
We currently have links with various employers in the local area in including community gardening areas, farms, stables and garden centres.
Progression Routes:
There are excellent progression opportunities in this industry including pre-apprenticeships, self-employment, animal care or landscaping apprenticeships, customer service and employment within horticulture and agriculture.

Remote Learning:
All theory elements of each course can take place remotely with staff completing regular welfare checks. Training will be given to learners and policies will need to be discussed and acknowledged, before remote learning takes place.
